Edge locks demonstrated in slow motion. From a wedge postion, move the hips (center of mass) laterally, away from new outside ski, causing edging of the inside edge of this ski and flattenig of the other ski. Note the angulation at the hip which causes the edging of the ski while maintaining an upright upper body. This angulated body position is similar to a carved parallel turn except for the wedged opposite leg which acts as support in this slow turn. Note that the turn is created by the carving edge of the outside ski and not by a turning or pivoting of the skis. Make certain to quickly lock the inside edge into a carve before the fall line so that the entire turn is created by the carving ski.
