Carved traverses on one ski are a good drill for stance and balance. Note that the body maintains an athletic stance with the arms forward for balance, the ankles flexed into the front of the boots and the body angulated at the hips allowing edging of the downhill ski to create a carving turn in an uphill direction. Make certain that the lifted uphill ski stays parallel to the snow or tipped forward since an elevated ski tip indicates your weight is back, out of balance. Maintain the edged and carving downhill ski to prevent sideways sliding.
